The professor was standing near the blackboard waving his wand, which caused the white chalk to being writing the words, IMPERIUS CURSE. He smirked at this, and went to sit down at his desk, which was filled with books, parchment and some letters that looked very official.

(*OOC - you will begin RPing entering the room and finding a seat. Do sit with whom ever you wish, you need not sit with the first to enter. Mind you, you may speak to each other and such, but you have been warned in my rules about how often this idle chatter can go on...)

Aerwin walked into the room and looked around. She didnt see any one. That didnt bother her at all. She just walked over to a chair and sat down. Looking up at the board she though to her self how much fun this class was gong to be. Then she pulled out her notes taking supples and wrote down what was on the board.

Gemini walked into the classroom, and saw that three Gryffindors were already there. So Gem waved ad took a seat at the front. Then she looked at the board, and saw that they'd be learning about th Imperius curse. Gem wasn't sure she wanted to be in the front, so she moved back a few rows, na dsat down. Gem dropped her bag on the floor and took ou her writing supplies.

Kathryn walked into the classroom and looked up at the board. It said IMPERIOUS CURSE. Suddenly Kathryn was excited she had always wanted to know how to defend yourself from it. She saw Gemini, Aerwin, Fliss, and Brando. She waved and said, "Hi" before taking a seat in the front and pulling out all of the supplies she needed on to the desk.

Seeing as how she had been in both his Potions and DADA class for a while, Aemilia found herself compelled to greet the Professor this morning. She walked to her normal desk and said, "Good morrow, Professor." And sat down to take out her DADA parchement and start a new entry for notes.

Snape was thinking about how last term they did not really get a chance to explore this subject as many had hoped. He would make sure this term would be different. He noticed many Gryffindors and wondered where his Slytherins were...just then Aemilia entered and spoke.

"You seem to be in a fine mood." said Snape not breaking out into a grin as that would be against his nature."

Danny Lupin took a seat in the back for a change, he thought about what he knew about the topic written on the board, it wasn't much, but he knew it was a very dark and dangerous curse, one of the unforgivable ones. He shuddered.

Sabrina walked into the classrom and read the board. "cool," she said under her breath. Sabrina walked towards Spotting Gem and raelyn, Sabrina walked towards them. "useful against filthy mudbloods," Sabrina heard one of the slytherins say. Sabrina fought back the urge to correct him and tell him that muggleborns aren't that bad. Slipping into the seat behind Gem Sabrina said, "Hi guys, wonder if professor snape is going to put the curse on us."

Having a quick glance around to see who else was in attendance that day, the prefect noticed some angry glares and there was a definite thickness of tension in the air as if she had walked in on an arguement. Thinking no more of it, she took out her notebook and quill and quickly stored her bag underneath the desk, grateful she wasn't horribly late to this lesson.*

Repu sat in his seat up front, his hat pulled down. He had entered earlier, but did not bring attention to himself. This was not a class where his usual antics would not be tolerated, and this time by himself. This curse was something not even he laughed at… well unless he could reflect back at the caster. Then it was funny, but otherwise, no laughing matter.

As he sat with his arm’s crossed, he shook his head, slightly at the mudblood remarks. ”It’s funny, especially when I’ve seen mudbloods out do pure bloods. Then again, the arrogant pureblood moaned and groaned that something was rigged, or that they just got lucky.” Repu shook his head one more time as he continued to sit there.

Repu was a pureblood himself, his family well off in both the Magic and Muggle worlds. However Repu didn’t look down on the non-magicals, heck some of his best friends at home were non-magicals.

Looking at his supplies he made sure he had everything ready, but kept an ear out to the rest of the class.

Kathryn heard what Sirius had said and her face quickly turned to one of anger. Ahe turned around and said, "Look, if you hae a problem with muggleborns keep it to yourself because no one cares! Muggleborns are people just like everyone else and you have no right to treat them so nasty, Im a muggleborn and everyone who is is proud to be one and a witch or wizard. So, not only have you insulted the people in this class you have insulted a lot of the wizarding community!"

*Increasingly, Junk had been getting sick of Sirius's and Beverly's actions. Frowning yet again, she didn't think that DADA would be as fun as it had been over the summer. Then Kathryn, of whom Junk had met over the summer in the other DADA classes, spoke up!!!

*Smiling approvingly, Junk nodded and then added, "Yes, and don't forget that most of them are a lot better than you." The gorgon couldn't believe that someone could be so constantly arrogant.

The Imperius Curse causes the victim to be completely under the command of the caster, who can make the victim do anything the caster wishes.

However, I have special permission from the Ministry of Magic and we, in this class, will be having this spell cast on them. I have always felt to be able to defend yourself, you need understand what you are against..."

He seemed to relish the thought of actually using this spell, though his mind would not go there as far as 'his' history with this spell was, he did not wish to have these thoughts known. He then walked over to the first row of students.

"Tell me, what exactly do you think it feels like to be placed under this spell...anyone venture to guess?"

*As the professor spoke of casting the Imperius curse on his students, Igraine couldn't help but be somewhat amused and intrigued by the idea of experiencing it herself. The prefect wondered what it would be like, even momentarily, to not be in utter control of one's thoughts or actions. There must be some part of relinquishing it that is a release of sorts, enjoyable even, in some small way. Igraine could not imagine a single moment of not having to constantly battle to remain in control of everything she did or said.*

Aemilia gasped at the Professor's infrence to having the spell cast upon her. Me! Out of control of my own thoughts, actions, and life?! I cannot stand for it! She was offended and had to keep reminding herself to breath. No wonder they call this one of the Unforgivable Curses... she added to her own busy cloud of thoughts and tried to calm herself down. Aemilia wanted to add something to the experience, and since this question was very open-ended she felt the need to answer.

Her hand shot up in the air and immediately after she was called on she started going off in an excited, hurried, worried pace. "I don't know if I could possible explain to you what it would feel like for me to not be in control of my own actions. I don't know if I can even imagine it. It wouldn't be a pleasurable experience for me, that's for sure. I mean, I can't think of a time when I haven't had a say in what I was doing or where I was going or what I was eating..." She started to ramble a bit and then catching herself before she really started to freak out she ended with, "I guess I'll just have to keep guessing." She wasn't sure if that's what the Professor wanted, but she wasn't even sure if she cared. She needed her opinions out in the open before anything else was said.

Chewing on her left-hand's fingers and bouncing her leg up and down, she decided to concentrate on writing notes instead of what lied ahead.

"I will answer your question in a minute, Mr. Morfin." Snape said and had to give the boy credit, he was so willing to learn, reminded him of someone...but he would not let his mind wander.

"You see, many of you have come close from Stacy's first mention to Felicity, Kathry, Jen, Miss Watson and Raelyn...yes, you do feel like nothing is wrong, no worries, as some would say. The only thing is what you are commanded to do, yet true, somewhere in the back of your mind, a small voice is saying this is not right...but you see, fear of the curse itself is what will help you fight it. If you know it is coming, that small voice has a chance to be heard. Does that make sense? Otherwise you may quite easily ignore it, for you do not 'think' anything is amiss as you do the caster's bidding."

He walked over to Aemilia, "Your fear is not wrong, it should make you strong, but you do need to understand what you are up against, as the next time someone cast this spell on you, you may not have fair warning and to know what it feels like will help you 'hear' that inner voice."

Snape hoped he had calmed her fears a bit, "Would I harm any of you on purpose? Do you think me that uncaring? I was awarded this class because I am good at what I do and in my trust, the Ministry of Magic has granted permission to do this class...it is called 'defense' is it not? As to Mr. Mofin's question....only someone with many years of learning and practice can pull this off, though some of you can cast it, but I would doubt the length the spell lasts...and you have to remember, it is, as Miss Chang pointed out, an Unforgivable Curse....now, let us move these tables and chairs out of our way..."

As seh sat there and listened to the professor she grew a little nevours much like the year before. It was nto a fun class if she remember right. Well a nother year another try at it.

Soon Professor Snape was done talking and it was time to move there desks. Aerwin pulled out her wand. Flicking her wand hand and saying. "Wingerdium Leviosa" The desk rose in the air and she moved it to the back of the room. She then set it down onto the floor in the back. Wow she had gotten better at that from the year before.

Putting her wand away she stood off to the side she realy didnt want to go first. What she wanted to do was run and hide fiar away. Knowing that was not going to happen she looked up at the Professor trying as she did to calm her self down. Today was not going to be a easy class to get though.

Sirius was overly exciting that he almost tripped over his desk..he took out his wand and perfomed the banishing charm which resuled in his desk and his chair flying and landing neatly and the back of the table..he had been looking forward to this moment..when he would witness an unforgiveable curse to be performed..he was more than willing to find out if he had the strength to perform one in the future.

Sen had been silently sitting in a corner taking notes, having being rattled with excitement about this subject, he moved his desk, chair and bag aside with a well-known flick of his wand! Trying to calm his nerves, he thought:
'I wonder how its gunna feel, it is such a weird concept thinking about it, i am so un-prepared, i thought it jsut was a matter of strength of mind and managing to realise you are "infected" like when your drugged, oh well!'
Sen moved forawrds with his wand in his pocket, in case he needed it, he had only vaugely heard of this spell and what it did, never about deflecting it or what not!
'Oh well, i suppose we will all be new to this!' Sen thought to himself, trying to relax and clear his mind, as he heard occlumens did, hoping it would help!
Suddenly sticking up his hand, he asked:

*She stood in the center of the room using meditation breathing to stay calm and prepare herself*

Maybe meditation will help a little, cause it's really just being in touch with yourself.

As the students were clearing the area, Snape was getting all sorts of nervous thoughts coming his way, 'and right they should be, but it must be taught for their own sakes'...then a voice rang out, "Sir, is being under the imperius anything like Legilimens or Acclomency?" He quickly looked at the young lad who spoke..."Excellent young man...and a point I shall make in a few short minutes, as I am sure many of you are wondering how to counter this...meanwhile, I would like you to pair-up...with someone YOU can trust."

( I am so sorry that I havent been here, my muggle life is going haywire. School is crazy and I have all of this afterschool stuff, Ill try to catch up!)

Kathryn looked at Aen and was just about to answer but then he turned around and walked over to another girl, Deidre. "Ok, new plan. find a partner." she thought. Everyone seemed to be paired up, "Does anyone need a partner?" she said loudly. Now more than ever she wished her friends in Hufflepuff were taking this class.

*Igraine was very reluctant to begin this lesson. There was no one in the class whom she truly trusted. In fact, the Prefect was so distrustful that there was nearly no one in the entire school she trusted. She was quite unnerved by the situation she now found herself in. Glancing around the room and trying to mentally tally who would be the lesser of evils, Igraine heard a girl named Kathryn inquire if anyone still needed a partner. The Slytherin decided she would rather work with a Hufflepuff on something of this nature anyway, but there did not seem to be many of them in the class.*

Approaching the girl, Igraine asked, "Would you mind partnering with me, Kathryn?"

After all, she thought, the professor said to work with someone you trust and I can't think of anyone more trustworthy than a Huff.

Still nervous about the whole thing, Aemilia was relieved to have a fellow SlytherPuff approach her first. Arcken was someone whom she didn't know too well, but Igraine did, and she trusted Igraine's judgment... though it was odd that they weren't already paired with each other... she was glad to have someone she was at least aquainted with. She forced a smile and said, "Sure, Arcken," and moved her desk out of the way by pushing it the old fashioned way. She walked over to where Arcken was standing and waited for the next instructions... I will do this lesson... you must concentrate on your schoolwork. A piddling little fear like this one will be shortly remedied when you learn how defend yourself against it... pull yourself together... With some deep breathing, Aemilia was beginning to calm down to her surprise, and relief.

Miss Black's job is to keep you from falling and hurting yourself...also, she is in charge of stopping me..and by that I mean, it is her job to say, "enough" as YOU would hardly be capable of doing it. Are you ready? I first want you to just relax and let it happen...then we shall work on you blocking it..."

Snape seemed to stand even straighter then normal, he stepped back, and with a flick of the wand, he said softly, "im-PAIR-ee-oh" and as he cast the Unforgivable spell, in his mind he ordered the Penshire boy to go to the cloak rack and bring Snape his cloak...a simple task and harmless....and slow smirk crossed the professor's face.

*Danny felt a darkenss come over him he felt himself leave and he heard Professor Snapes voice in the back of his head *Go get my cloak* the voice said and Danny couldn't refuse! He felt his legs begin to move toward the Coat Rack and he couldn't stop them, he wasn't able to make his own decision, he reached up for the cloak telling himself, *No, no say no!* this didn't stop the spell he brought the cloak to Professor Snape and waited for another order still not able to control himself.

Snape had held his wand on the young man the whole time, since the only words out of his mouth was the spell itself, the thought of having him retrieve the cloak was more of a mind-to-mind command. He felt the lad try, or at least the desire to fight the actions, but he did not fight longer or hard...Snape had to stop himself from wanting to move onto other tasks, pity...but the lesson was to have them 'feel' it and learn to fight it.

Snape reached for his cloak and placed it on his desk, then he jerked and his and Danny seemed to be fine again..."You did well Miss Black, and you....do turn around and tell the class exactly what it felt like and what your thoughts were, then we shall try it again, only this time, I am going to give you a bit of advise..."

*Danny jolted back to himself, he no longer felt the coldness and he could do what he wanted, *Well,* Danny said beginning to answer Professor Snape's question, *I felt like a cold darkness sweep over, me. I left myself, i was there but i had no control, i could think though and i heard my mind saying no, but Professor Snape's voice was way more powerful, I began to move when i didn't want to i could see, bu tif Professor told me to walk into a chair i wouldn't stop, he began to move for me. Then i reached out to get the cloak like the voice said, and then my mind was drained and i couldn't stop it now i was sucked in! Then as the spell was taken off me I felt the cold rush out and my voice was getting louder and louder as Professor Snape's left, i got control of myself again and here i am!* Danny explained, he wasn't proud of how he failed to fight the spell.

Snape bent down and spoke low into Danny's ear. Then stood up, "Before I begin, after Mr. Lupin tries to fight this off, I will be taking on another pair...meanwhile, let us see if Mr. Lupin will jump up on my desk."

Snape waved his wand and and said, "im-PAIR-ee-oh" and without another word, just moved his wand about..

*Danny listened to Professor Snape and was ready to go against the Imperious Curse again, then it happened, he was sucked out of himself, he tried to stop it for more preperation but, he couldn't control it anymore, Jump on the table! it was the voice, the very powerful and loud voice. His legs were bending and Danny couldn't stop them, Why would I? danny thought, but the voice came back, JUMP ON THE DESK!!!!!, Danny's voice was no match for this, no! no! no! Danny cried in is head, but it was no use his voice wasn't nearly as strong as the other, JUMP! NO!!!!!!, Danny cried, but this time outloud, he was growing over the voice, it was leaving him, and then Danny lifted his hands and moved them on his own, *I did it!* He said quite pleased!*

Hannah saw professor snape cast the spell and wondered how she was going to react. She had a pretty strong mind and when she wanted something that she was sure of she usually got it right.

Snape would have never admitted it, but he was impressed with the lad's efforts. Though he had only cast the spell mildly, the kid had some talent...Snape said rather coolly..."Very good Mr. Lupin, very good indeed...50 points this time. Now, before we go further, would anyone like to ask Mr. Lupin any questions..." Snape said this and looked at Sen.. Rising an eyebrow to the strange cough..."Should we contact the nurse?"

Willow walked quickly down the hall. She was never late. Late was a horrible word. She was always punctual and on time. Her thoughts were jumbled. What if Proffessor snape was furious. Maybe she could slip in unnoticed. Yes that is what she would do. Slip in unnoticed. She walked right up to the door and as quietly as she could she opened it and poked her head in. She walked with all the confidence she had over to the nearest desk hoping Proffessor Snape did not notice. She was so excited to be in that class. She sat down. And looked up at Proffessor Snape. Was it her he was angryly glaring at or was it the kid behind her?

Then he looked at the list of partners...and noticed the new Slytherin..."Miss Vucish, I believe you can partner-up with Raelyn here...so, lets move the desk and chairs and create and empty space in the center of the classroom, go on, move them and put your book bags out of the way too...then get with your partners.."

Raelyn felt a funny sensation come over and the surroundings seemed to have disappeared. "Do a jig.." a quiet voice told her. Her foot stepped forwards before another voice appeared in her head. "Why should I?" she thought back. "Do it. Do a jig!" the voice repeated. "No thanks. I think I'll stay put." she was starting to fight back. Her foot however had started twitching.

As Professor Snape walked around the group she was watching him closely. He had away of snecking up on them when they were not exptedint it. So she made sure her mind was ready for this. Then it came his spell. How ever she had been ready for but this time it went to others in the room with ehr self being safe for now. Others how ever were not so lucky. Looking on at her fellow class mates seh wondering what to say to them for so of them looked reather silly righ tnow. It was hard not to laugh but she new that if it was her she would not want to be laughed at so she was trying to keep it in.

Looking up and down the row of students her eyes rested on one named Raelyn. At least that is what she though her name was it was not imported right now Raelyn was trying to fight it and doing a pretty good job of it. Walking over next ot Raelyn to wishper to her Keep it up you are doing great. Keep fighting it. She said all that in the ear of Raelyn so that no one else had to hear. Then she walked back over to her parter Fliss to make sure she was ok.

((Professor Snape Fliss from gryffindor is with out a computer right now because her monter blow up. So I will get her down here as soon as she gets it fixed. I though you should know.)

Kathryn had been listening to Professor Snape's instructions when suddenly he dais "Imperio!" Then felt a dreamy like sensation fill her and a calm voice spoke in her head, "Do a jig," it said. "No thanks, I dont reslly like dancing, besides its slightly embarassing!" she retorted. The voice repeated the command but it was stronger and more forceful. Slowly Kathryn began tapping her foot and eventually she started to dance and no longer had control.

*Fliss was loooking around at all the pairs in the room, then she heard the Professor say 'Imperio'. She started to feel as light as a feather and tingly all over. 'Dance' she headr a voice say in her head, 'I like dancing...but not in a class room' she said to herself.

But she couldnt help it, her foot started to tap, then her legs started to twitch, before she jnew it she was dancing all over the room, weaving between the other students in the class*

She felt her legs begin to obey, but then she frowned. i don't dance. a small voice in her head said. really. i'm horrible at it. Yet she could feel her feet start to move. She really didnt want to make a fool of herself in front of everyone though. NO! I don't dance! the voice in her head said. The other voice repeated the command stronger. Myrr could feel herself being swept away in a wierd dance. She didn't know if she was fighting it very well, but she seemed to be moving jerkily across the room. One step here, almost another step before jerking to a stop. There goes another step. Spin, fall to the floor. Get back up, dance. She didn't know where her partner was, but she continued to try and stop dancing.*

(I really don't know where Sam is at the moment. I haven't seen ehr around lately.)

Sam was glad that she had been able to get a partner with out having to beg. Unexpectedly Myrrime started to do strange moves as if deciding whether to dance or not. "Um Myrrima, are you ok?" She asked looking concerned for her friend. It wasn't every day that one of your friends started to half dance.

The professor watched as the students tried fighting it and others seemed to take to it quite well. He was firm, yet not too much, as this was just a small experiment, not total mind control. Then he quit, and as they all settled down, and came to their senses he spoke.

"I see we have some pretty fine dancers in our group...now, some of you fought it off quite well, some seemed to let it take over pretty quickly. I believe we need to hear what you have to say of this little adventure, then I am going to give you some tips on fighting the curse...and Miss Turner, I see you have gotten to know my little trick of the 'surprise' attack. I is important to have someone aid you in fighting the curse if possible, well done to those who tried to encourage and good fight. Now, Let me see, Kathryn and Filicity were the most talented dancers, what were you thinking, how did you make you feel?"

(*I am awarding those who 'danced' or almost danced 35 points for bravery, so for Jen, Hannah, Raelyn, Kathryn, Fliss, and Myrrima get that, 25 points for Cho, Aerwin, Arcken and Samatha.)

Kathryn flushed at the Professor's comment but smiled when she was awarded pints. Still smiling she said, "It is kind of hard to explain, my mind felt blank and empty, as though Ivenever learned anything before. At first I tried to ignore the voice in my head but soon it took over, I have never actually felt that way before. I felt like I was in the air and was being held up eith a string and told what to do, just like a puppet."

Igraine's first impulse was to choose being the first to cast the Unforgivable. But after a moment's thought, the Slytherin realized that she would prefer to know how it felt herself before casting it on another. While standing there listening to Professor Snape she was like What we have to do this on our parters wow. Her heart just was not in this. It was not a spell she ever cared to use ever. It was not right. So she looked at her parnter with a face that you could tell was sad and full of dout. How ever she pulled her wand out. Then took in a lot of air to her lungs.

"Fliss you wnat to try spell first?"

Looking around seh could not see how they could get away with learning such a spell as a Unforgivable. She could under stand the Teacher casting it on them to show them what it felt like but it was the last spell she would ever want to learn how to use it. He was testing her vaules right now. She wondered what Fliss would do if she would try and cast the unforgiveale or try to pass it off to her again.

'ok Fliss, breathe..........Im..Imper-IO' Fliss stuttered, with her eyes half shut, gaining a sudden confidence boost at the last second of the cast.

*Fliss knew she wouldnt be able to cast it, not first time especially but she kept her eyes half-shut nonetheless*

As she stood there watching Fliss try and cast the spell at her she could see that Fliss was in the same boat as her. There was little changes of either of them casting this spell to work. When Fliss did say the spell nothign happened. It would be her trun now but she coudl not do it. Never could she cast these spell on any one. Let alone one of her best friends. So her hand went up into the air as she wanted to say soemthing to Professor Snape.

"Professor Snape, I cant cast such a spell. If that means I fail your class so be it but I will not cast a Unforgiveable even if it is just in these Class room. There is nothing you can say to make me do this. It is one thing to let you cast it on us so we know what it feels like it is another thing all togehter to make us try and Cast it. I am every sorry but I can not go though with this."

Standing up strait and tall she waited to see what he would say to her if any thing. Realy if she had been the teacher and stundent talked back to her like that she would trun around and cast the spell on them but she wondered if Snape would ever do that. To be ready how ever was the key right now. She was ready if he was to cast any thing at her. Her wand was in hand and she stood there looking right at him.

Snape watched them pair up and hesitantly ask each other who was to cast it..he knew none of them would step right up and cast it right off. Then Aerwin came up and gave her little speech...

He took a deep breath, "Miss Turner, I do not expect anyone to actually cast it and if they did, it would not work...do you think I am mad? Insane? It is one thing for me to cast the spell to show the class the effects and dangers...but I would hardly think any student at Hogwarts, or any in MY DADA classes would easily cast this spell on another. As you see by the hesitation and nervousness...though, I am going to ask you to cast it..."

And he turned, and waved his wand and a large box appeared with a black cloth over it. Snape walked over to the box, removed the cloth and inside were several large spiders.

Feeling that she had better not question him any more on this she walked slowly up to the front. Looking at Fliss as she got her spider she then moved back to where they had been before. Oh how she disliked spiders. Not as mcuh as some other things but she didnt like them much. Putting her spider on her desk she though about the spell and how she Did not wnat to do this but she ahd to make ti look like she was at least trying. She she aimed her wand at the spider and siad quietly "Imperio" Nothing happen because she didnt care to even cast the spell. She did how ever pracies saying a few more times making it look like she was trying.

Hannah walked over to the box with the spiders. she wasn't afraid of them so she figured she might as well get one. she grabbed one out of the box and brought it over to a table, where she waited for arcken to join her.

*Fliss satw ith Aerwin and the spider and watched as Aerwin half-heartedly said the spell, Fliss was nervous about doing the spell but other things were more important. So when Aerwin had her go Fliss aimed her wand at teh spider and cleared her mind and taking a deep breath said the spell 'Imperio' the spider had been running around and trying to move away from them, when Fliss cast the spell the spider halted for a few seconds just standing there then started to run again, Fliss was a bit confused, did the spider just stop or was it her doiing, catching the spider she brought it back between Fliss adn Aerwin and started to aim again*

(Seraphina, I'm going to make it so that my turn does not work. I hope this is OK and just wanted to tell you in OCC so that you knew I wasn't intentionally trying to godmode or anything.)

*Junk winced as the professor said his bit to Aerwin. Deciding not to say anything and just obey, the girl was about to get up and get a spider, when Seraphina did it for her. "Thanks," she whispered, still too afraid of angering Professor Snape.

"Imperio" Junk said, with much hesitation, even though the creature was just a spider....Nothing happened, of course. Taking a deep breath, and making herself want to use the curse, the Slytherin said it again. "Imperio!" Still, nothing. She thought, Well, third time's a charm, right? and tried again.

"Imperio!!!" ....Still nothing. Bringing her eyebrows forward, pondering why, the Slytherin just shook her head at herself and handed the spider back to Seraphine for her turn.

So there were certain spells even Junk's subconscious would not allow her to do...

*Ava didn't know how to exactly prepare one's self for a curse, when we weren't supposed to defend against it. She stood a bit solid waiting for Danny to say the spell. Then when he did it, she felt a little funny. A little fuzzy in the brain. She moved her arm a little funny, but as soon as she realized she was moving, she stopped it. She looked at Danny wondering what he had wanted her to do.*

*Sera watched as Jen tried the imperius curse on the spider. She seemed to hesistate a bit on the first try, and Sera thought that Jen might feel the same way Aerwin does, not really wanting to try this curse.

Sera was raised by muggles, after her parents were killed, and had not had any touch with the Wizarding World until she came to Hogwarts. She knew that this was an unforgivable curse, but she didn't have the same fear of it as some of the other students that were more familiar with what this curse was all about.

The tall girl looked at Jen and studied her for a moment, thinking about the hesitation that Aerwin and Jen had showed about doing this. 'It's just a spider' she thought to herself, and decided to give it a shot, not really understanding why some people were having a problem with this.

She pointed her wand at the spider and tried to concentrate on what she wanted it to do. "Imperio," she said, watching the spider to see if it would react..... nothing.
She cleared her mind, and tried again. "Imperio!" she said with more force in her voice. She moved her wand in an attempt to make the spider dance, but all she got was a little hop from the spider. Sera looked up at Jen to see if the Slytherin had noticed the spider hop. The Gryffindor wasn't sure if she had caused it, or if it was something the spider had done on it's own, reacting to all the commotion going on around it.

*Myrr was startled a bit by Professor Snape's anger and quickly did as he had asked. SHe picked up the spider, wincing slightly as she didn't particularily like spiders, and hurried back to Sam. She set it down on a desk and got ready to perform the spell.*

"Imperio!" *she said, pointing her wand at it. She frowned slightly when the spell did not work. THen she cleared her mind and concentrated with all her might on the spell.*

"IMPERIO!" *she said again. THis time the spell seemed to work. She was able to command the spider into moving to the side of the desk opposite her anyway. Who was she kidding, she didn't particularily like spiders, she really disliked spiders! She waited to see what else Professor Snape wanted them to do with it.*

It was pretty safe to say that Arcken hated spider. Nevertheless, if he had it in his hand and if it was so big, it would not be a problem for him to work with it. The boy saw that Hannah had already picked you, though, so he went to join her. 'Do you want to try first, Hannah?'

Snape was rather disappointed in the student's attempts at the spell...he wondered how well they would do in a real fight with the dark forces and worst against a Death Eater or the Dark Lord himself!

"I see many of you are still rather reluctant to cast this spell even against a spider." he said sounding cold and unconcerned.

He then walked over to where Aerwin and Filicity were sitting, pulled out his wand and said, "im-PAIR-ee-oh" and the spider began to dance a jig. With a raised eyebrow he added, "did you think I would have it kill itself....do not think me that cold...besides, I have plenty of dead spiders for my potions."

And with that, he walked to the front of the room and cleared his throat..."How else would you have me teach you how to defend yourself, have none of you heard me say that this spell WILL most likely be used ON you when fighting the dark forces? Well...tell me, I am open to suggestions." he said standing very rigid and looking like the very opposite of be open to suggestions.

Looking right up at Professor Snape she stood there just smiling for some reason. There was more to her then meets the eye but she had a idea. He had a point but her point was good as well. So she raised her hand but didnt wait to be called on just started talking.

"Professor you say that we will be faced with this spell if we got up against dark wizards that is right we will how ever what good is it to any of us to try and cast a spell that is baned by the Minsitry of Magic? If we were to use it back on a Dark Wizard that woudl make us no better then they are. If you truly with to have us know what it is like to face this spell why don't you make us feel with it is like to have the spell on us? I say the best way for us to fight this spell is to know what it feels like then we will not soon forget it or how to stop it. Us knowing how to cast it will only get us into trouble."

Her mother was a Auror and she knew the laws of what was ok to do and what was not aloud. As she looked up at the professor after saying this she just gave him a smile of come on bring it on I am not scared of you at all. Her mind was focesd and read to what every he chose to do to her next. Nothing at this point would shock her.

Kathryn looked at Aerwin and glared. Raising her hand she said,

"Aerwin, do you honestly think that Professor Snape would teach us this spell if he thought we were actually going to use it each and every time we are in a duel. I believe that he is trying to teach this spell only as a last resort, sometimes, surprise is the best element to use. Death Eaters are not going to expect us to know this spell."

Kathryn couldnt believe how cold and rude Aerwin was. Glancing at the Potions Master Kathryn hoped she did not get in trouble for talking, especially when Professor Snape seemed so agitated.

*As the professor came over Fliss looked up at him and then the spider as he made it dance. Listening to Aerwin and Kathryn, Fliss thought they both had a point. Fliss also thought that Aerwin was being very brave, being a gryffindor she wasnt all that shocked that she was but Fliss was going to be behind her 100% for sticking up for what she believed in. Fliss could see all the cold looks Aerwin was recieving and couldnt understand why classmates were looking at her like this, it was Aerwins believe and she stood by it, there was nothign wrong with that. Fliss didnt say anythign though thinking this wasnt the place, but kept an eye on the class*

Sam had watched the spider with interest, she liked spiders for some strang reason. She listened to Prof. Snape bet decided that this would be a good time to shut up. She waited for some one to say or at least do something.

The professor just stood there for a second, squinted and with the voice as cool as ice, he said..."Miss Turner...I have no idea who you think you are talking to, but I have been trying to teach defense against the dark arts...do you think the Headmistress would put me in this position if I was not trusted enough to teach you lot how to protect yourselves? Do you think the Ministry of Magic has not been consulted on what my lessons contain? Unknown to you, Miss Turner, is that EVERY DADA instructor submits their lesson plans to the Ministry for approval and suggestions...they have a vested interest in those taking this class to be able to aid in the future battles against the dark forces...and little miss-high-and-mighty-who think herself better then others...casting this spell in YOUR defense is NOT against the law, it will NOT get in sent to AZKABAN...I do not know where you get you knowledge or information, but when fighting the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters, or any other dark forces, using this particular spell is NOT against the law to cast to protect yourself! Every hear 'all's fair in love and war'?....Now, either cast the spell or shut-up and sit down and quit interfering with my class."

And he turned and walked passed the students and approached his desk, turned and glared at the lot of them..."well..."


(*Mind you, the rules here at PAD's Hogwarts is you cannot cast this spell on any member of the school nor use it in your RPGS here. This class is strictly RPing a DADA class inwhich this spell is discussed and explored and experimented with, the Headmistress knows I was covering this spell. As you know, certain heroic characters who are not on the Dark Lord's side have cast this spell...25 points for Aerwin, Jen, Kathryn, Fliss, Seraphina, Hannah, Samatha, and Ava.)

Kathryn blinked slightly at Professor Snape's lecture before taking out her wand and pointing it at the spider, what Aerwin had said had made her very angry. Fordefully, she cried, "IMPERIO!!" The spell blasted the spider away before KAthryn commanded it to fo a dance. The spider twitched slightly and hopped before stopping. Frustrated, Kathryn sat down at her seat. Looking down, she felt relief at how she hadnt been able to fuly do it.

SHe blinked, a bit unbelievingly, then hurriedly turned to her spider. Her spell had worn off and it had almost gotten off the desk, but she pointed her wand at it and forcefully said,* "Imperio!" *the spell once again worked, but better this time. She got the spider to do a few gymnastic flips and then winked at Sam watched what the rest of the class was doing.*

(I will be here for the final Aerwin is a brave little girl and is about to walk out of class. every one feels strongly about something so yes she willl get up and wlak out for what she belives how ever I will do the final for this class.))

Looking up at the professor she did not like how he was talking to her but that was his right. She woudl never cast this spell ever at all under any condron. So she packed up her things and told Fliss good bye.

"Well you have your point of view Professor and I have mine. Good day."

With that she took her stuff and walked out.

After the Gryffindor left the class, Arcken pointed his wand at the spider and immediately said, 'Imperio.' The creature did not have much of a will to resist simple commands and took some steps on the table, following the direction of the wand. 'It feels strange,' the boy said as he released the Curse. 'Do you want to try as well,' he asked Hannah.

*Junk smirked as Aerwin was given a going at and then smiled slighty, hiding it quickly, as she left. No more outbursts then. After her HOH's lecture, however, the half-gorgon felt that she needed to work harder.

*Concentrating, Jen pointed her wand at the spider still on her desk and said once again, "Imperio." This time, the spider calmed and started to walk as if in a dream. Happy that something had happened, Junk looked up toward the front of the class, but then decided against attracting the attention of the professor's possible anger, so she looked back down.

*...The spider was back to normal. Apparently, the prefect had lost concentration while looking up. Sighing, Jen set her wand on the table, her head in her hand, and gave up. The activity was depressing anyway.

*Sera listened as Professor Snape lectured Aerwin and the class on questioning his lessons. She was shocked as Aerwin stood up and left the class, and hoped that missing this lesson would not be Aerwins downfall one day because shew as not prepared. Sera still struggled to see why some had such apprehensions with using this spell, but decided to stop worrying about everyone else and work on learning it for herself.
She watched as Jen took her turn with the spider, with decent results! "Good job, Jen." she said, sensing that the Slytherin was losing interest a bit, as she laid her wand on the desk and put her head in her hand. "Not giving up already I hope, you actually did pretty good, I thought."
Sera took her turn with the spider again, hoping to do better than last time.
"Imperio!" she said forcefully, trying to force the darn spider to dance. As she flicked her wand the spider moved with it and Sera noticed that the spider was reacting to her commands. She moved her wand in circles and the spider walked in circles on the desk. As she made an attempt to get the spider to stand up on it's back legs, it did not react and she realized she must have lost her connections with the spider. 'Better than last time' she thought, trying to reassure herself that she was getting better at this.*

hannah got a little scared when snape lectured aerwin. when he was done she decided to cast the spell.
"imperio", hannah said while pointing her wand at the spider. she wanted it spin around in circles. she tried to concentrate on it and when she opened her eyes she actually saw the spider kind of walking around on her hand, but she wasn't too sure if she had anything to do with it.

He was thinking that this lot would surely perish in a fight with he dark forces when he noticed some had taken to his words and actually cast the spell. And even more surprising, many actually got the spider to do something...he rised his eyebrow and thought, if nothing else, the silly little Gryffindor lit a fire in them with her sorry excuse to not cast the spell. After all, he was only trying to save their lives...

He began to walk among them again..."Very good Miss Curtis...ah nice work Myrrima...good job Mr. Cirith...Jen...that was good for your first try...nice work Miss Rosehill...yes Miss Abbott, you did move the spider..."

Of COURSE he did it like there was nothing to it. The girl was heard mumbling to herself, yet only bits and pieces like "nasty," "sucking up" and "imposter" could be heard.

Not really thinking of clearing her mind and focusing she cast the spell. The spider started to scuttle round in a circle like it didnt know where it was going, just like Fliss's mind at that time*
